Buy Plasma Televisions

In buying a Plasma Television, you have two options where to shop: online or offline. Both modes have their advantages and disadvantages, so here are some points that can guide you on one of the major decisions you'll be making when making that Plasma Television purchase.

Offline: Brick-and-Mortar Shops for Plasma Televisions

Your PROS are:

  • Hands-on access to your plasma display candidates: see and try out what you're actually buying
  • Direct human interaction: you get more time to ask questions about all the things that you're worried about, and if you're pretty new to buying something such as Plasma Televisions, you might be thankful for pieces of advice as well (make sure they're telling the truth though!)
  • More likely to be legitimate and safe, or easier to determine legitimacy and safety
  • Paying options and return policies: if you want flexible paying options, you'll be better off buying from an offline store than an online one, which usually requires dealing with credit card numbers (and can be hacked!)

Your CONS are:

  • Travel hassle: you might not find too many stores that are convenient to go to, so you might get easily discouraged or pressured to choose too quickly.
  • Relatively more expensive deals: the hottest deals are said to be better found online (but that is if you are a good scout as well) – also take note of sales tax for these retailers

Online: Website Deals for Plasma Televisions

Your PROS are:

  • Easy access, everything's a click away: you don't need to take a whole day (or two) off just to hunt down stores that are not-so-nearby, so you have access to a wider range of prices and options and find the right one for you
  • Generally cheaper deals than offline retailers

Your CONS are:

  • Legitimate dealer and safe transaction issues: it is much more difficult to find out whether online stores are scams or not, so inspect whether the site looks carefully constructed/developed, especially with secure transactions (take care of that credit card account!)
  • Doing a lot of searching: sometimes people are content with a limited range of choices so they don't have to handle too much pressure when making a decision
  • Shipping charges: while online shops most likely cut down as much as possible on the price, still inspect if you're getting a good deal with shipping charges involved — the plasma television you're buying will most likely be larger than other things you've bought online, and if you live somewhere that's not as convenient (say halfway around the world relative to where your TV is stocked), you might be better off with a sweeter shipping cost
  • Offline or Online: Other things to Inspect

Future Scenarios and Lots of Questions. See if they can handle possible problems you ask right off the bat, as this helps determine whether they're legitimate or at least reliable for repairs and other services. If they're not helpful, you better think twice and decide if you should throw a come-what-may attitude for spending several thousands of dollars. Some stores are simply about selling stuff, while some are about the sales and the service. You may need to pay additional for technical support in the future.

Legitimacy Issues Again. It's tough finding this out, but one way that can help is asking if the store (usually an online one) services big companies.

Warranty. Ask about warranty policies, return policies, and other policies regarding future problems or needs you might encounter. Extended warranties are usually available for reputable brands, but be mindful about other crack companies attempting to sell them.

Extremely low or free shipping charge. Be wary of these. Some may make up for it by using equally cheap means of sending your Plasma Television, so you're risking getting it damaged even before you get to see it!

Now, here are some reputable Plasma Television brands. Remember, a branded television is always better than a non-branded one.
